Machinima came to iam8bit with a dare – design a better, cooler trophy for their annual Inside Gaming Awards. After compulsive toiling and some serious R&D, the result is something unusual, but far more fun than a standard mantlepiece. Our intent was to translate the optical illusion of isometric pixel art into a real, physical form. Not an easy task. Several 3D modeling migraines later, the world’s first stackable, rearrangeable award was born. The blocks are bonded via cleverly hidden magnets, placed just under the surface of the resin, holding each cube tightly together amid a solid steel base. We’ve unofficially (and affectionately) dubbed them “The Cubeys”.
